The Scandinavian Chateau

This 10,000 sq. ft. residence explores how Scandinavian design principles can be thoughtfully integrated into the formal language of a traditional French Château. The project balances classic European proportions with a cleaner, more contemporary expression, squared windows, simplified dormers, and a restrained profile that removes ornamental arches in favour of clarity and intention.
A deep reading of the site guides the architecture. Sun angles, wind patterns, and natural views inform the placement of openings, the organization of spaces, and the overall massing. The exterior is envisioned in a light, clean limestone, while the interior brings warmth through natural wood, soft textures, and subtle stone accents, bridging the organic calm of Scandinavian design with the grandeur of a château-inspired form.
This home is less about blending styles and more about allowing each principle to elevate the other: the timeless presence of a French country estate paired with the quiet restraint, warmth, and site-sensitivity that define Scandinavian architecture. The result is a residence rooted in its landscape, refined in its detailing, and intentional in every gesture.
